Well done Klopp – 3 Reasons why Liverpool fans must be excited about Reds’ £43.7m new signing

Share

Liverpool stunned many by announcing Fabinho’s arrival. The Monaco midfielder has signed for the Reds in a £43.7m move. According to reports, Arsenal were also interested in signing the player but Liverpool moved fast to secure the signature of the coveted Brazilian.

Fabinho is another costly addition to the Reds’ midfield after they had reached an agreement for RB Leipzig’s Naby Keita for £52.75m.

Fabinho’s capture could prove to be the ultimate business for Liverpool who are looking for a serious challenge for titles across England and Europe next season. Here are 3 reasons why Fabinho might be the player who Liverpool needed in order to go to the next level and win the Premier League and the Champions League.

The big name in the midfield

Liverpool are spearheaded by one of the most feared attacks in Europe. The trio of Salah, Mane and Firminho has been devastating. However, Liverpool’s midfield hasn’t been anywhere near the quality of their attack and it clearly needed reinforcements. Henderson, Wijnaldum and Milner are good players but are not quite up there with the very best in the game.

With the signing of Fabinho, Liverpool will have that big and reassuring presence in the middle to dominate the games.

World class box-to-box midfielder

Fabinho is among the very rare midfielders who make an impact at both the ends of the field. As effective and deadly Fabinho is when going forward, he is even more reassuring while helping the team defend without the ball. The Brazilian international has an engine that makes him float between the two boxes.

His 8 goals and 3 assists for the season show how big a threat Fabinho could pose to the opposition.

Even while defending, the midfielder is as good a tackler as one could come across. Fabinho averaged an insane 3.6 tackles per game in the Champions League for Monaco. He also won 3.2 aerial duels per 90 minutes.

Naby Keita

A perfect partner for Keita

Liverpool fans must be over the moon with the arrival of two world-class midfielders in one transfer window. The next step for the club is to integrate the two in a setup that would help the team achieve its goals.

Keita and Fabinho should complement each other well because of their playing styles – both are quick box-to-box midfielders, with Keita the more attack-minded of the two. Fabinho and Keita will bring a fine balance to Liverpool’s midfield.
