Chelsea looked fairly dominant in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final tie and were rewarded with a first-half away goal by Pedro.
The Blues will feel like it was a missed opportunity though. They got off to a flying start at a noisy Commerzbank Arena. Frankfurt found their rhythm soon after their sluggish start and took the advantage in the 23rd minute, thanks to a delightful header from star-striker Luka Jovic.
Jovic had a lot to do, despite receiving a sublime cross from Filip Kostic. Chelsea came flying off the blocks after that goal. They pushed Frankfurt into their own half, leading to the Pedro goal, thanks to some good bit of play from Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
The Blues could’ve added more after an impressive second-half display but without star man Hazard starting this game, they will believe they have a slender advantage going into the second leg at Stamford Bridge.
