Arsenal vs Brighton Report – Arsenal Match Report

Arsenal’s top-four hopes are all but over after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Brighton at the Emirates stadium. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Glenn Murray were on target from penalty spots for respective sides.

The Gunners got off to a good start and were given a penalty in the ninth minute when Alireza Jahanbakhsh was adjudged to have fouled Nacho Monreal in the box despite making contact with the ball.

Aubameyang stepped up and slotted his effort past Matt Ryan with ease to put his team ahead.

After that, the home side were good in certain moments and sloppy in others. They were looking to score the second goal and seal this game, but the back gates weren’t too secure.

Eventually, a mistake arrived when Granit Xhaka committed a weird foul on Solly March in the 61st minute to concede a penalty. Murray stepped up and slotted his effort past Bernd Leno.

Arsenal chased the winner frantically, however, Ryan made a series of good saves and Aubameyang had one good chance from close range, which he put wide.

Amidst all that, Brighton could have won this game, but Leno made a terrific save from March and Pascal Gross skewed the rebound towards the corner flag with the goal gaping in front of him.

All in all, a disappointing evening for Arsenal, whose top-four hopes are all but over. Now, they can only get Champions League football by winning the Europa League.
