Liverpool missed their chance to go back to the top of the table after they were drawn blank by Everton in the Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park. The result means Jurgen Klopp’s men remain a point behind defending champions Manchester City.

Truth be told, the Reds had enough chances to win the game but they forgot to bring the shooting boots with them. Mohamed Salah had the best opening of the first half when he was fed through with only Jordan Pickford to beat. But the latter spread himself big to deny the Egyptian.

Liverpool’s front-man had another big opportunity in the second half when Joel Matip fed him through, but a poor first touch allowed Michael Keane to come back and make a crucial tackle.

Fabinho had one clear-cut chance following a set-piece situation, however, the Brazilian took too much time and allowed the Everton defenders to make the interception.

At the end of the day, it was two points dropped for Liverpool, who now have to chase Manchester City and win almost all the games in order to stand a chance of winning the title.
