Rangers moved to the top of the Scottish league table with a thumping 5-0 win over Hamilton at the Ibrox.

Jermaine Defoe scored a hat-trick for Steven Gerrard’s men, while Connor Goldson and Borna Barisic added to the tally to complete a comprehensive win for the team.

Rangers made a great start to the game and deserved a lead in the seventh minute when Defoe tucked it away with a wonderful chip. Goldson made it two with a diving header into the back of the net after a good cross from captain James Tavernier.

Left-back Barisic made it 3-0 around the hour mark with a good finish. Defoe then scored two goals in eight minutes to complete his hat-trick and make it five for the Gers.

The striker’s second goal was finished well after rounding off the keeper. In the 71st minute, he scored his third with a finish of high order into the roof of the net.

Taking a look at the stats, Rangers completely dominated the game and deserved this scoreline. They are now on top of the table after Celtic dropped points at Livingston earlier in the day.
