Wayne Rooney The Man Behind United’s Season Claims David Moyes

Rooney to leave United?

Looks like the Moyes-Rooney partnership have started to blossom at Old Trafford. The man who sold a young Evertonian boy, Wayne Rooney to Manchester United has come out and claimed that the England International is on the verge of greatness for the Red Devils.

The start of his regime at Old Trafford haven’t quite worked out yet for David Moyes as he is looking at his team who are sitting at 8th in the table with just 28 points from the 17 games played so far. The season has crossed the “it’s just the beginning phase” and we are in the Business end of the campaign with festive fixtures coming thick and fast. If United are aiming to finish in the top 4, there is some serious work to do from now until May.

Albeit, Manchester United racked up another crucial three points against West Ham United as the omens are finally looking up for David Moyes. Manchester United with back to back wins in the league and a top place finish in the Champions League group stages are on a good run. However David Moyes has claimed it’s Wayne Rooney’s leadership which is driving the team forward. While talks of a title race for the Manchester club is a bit premature, if any player can take them there it’s a dodgy determined Wayne Rooney. The Guardian has quoted the manager as saying:

“Wayne played great,” said Moyes. “He dropped in and he took the ball. He passed the ball from a little bit deeper at times but also made a contribution in the goals. It was very good.

“Do you know what I see more than anything in Wayne? I see leadership. I see somebody who wants to take responsibility for the team. I see somebody who cares for how he plays and how the team plays. More than anything, that is what I see from Wayne.

With Robin Van Persie almost out of the scene so far this season, it has been Rooney’s goals that have been saving United, but the English International doesn’t look as sharp as he used to be.

“Maybe if he is not quite at the top of his form I will need him to drop in at times and he has no problem doing any of the jobs. He is getting to an age now where he realises he is not a boy any more. He is one of the senior men in the team. He is actually on the verge of being one of the great legends at this club.

“Because of that I think he is saying, ‘I have got to take responsibility for results and for performances and make sure the players are doing it on the pitch.’ The players are responding.”
