Watford signing this 22-year-old powerhouse would help them remain solid next season

Watford opinion: Should the Hornets make a move for Mady Camara?

Watford have overachieved this season and it’s come as a surprise to a few fans this season. At one stage of the season, they were in a top-four spot but given their team’s quality, they couldn’t sustain it.

They remained in the race for the final Europa League spot for most of the season, battling Wolverhampton Wanderers, Leicester City, Everton and West Ham but the promoted team proved to be too much too handle.

In the end, Wolves won the battle and Watford turned their attention elsewhere. Instead, they’ve focused on the FA Cup. By hook or crook, they managed to make the semi-final and once again battled Nuno Espirito Santo and his men.

This time, however, they came out on top after a sensational game of football and made it to the finals. It will be a much harder battle against Manchester City but it shows just how far the club has come.

They finished 14th last season, 17th the season before and 13th in their first season back in the Premier League.

But there is still a lot of work for Javi Gracia to do before the next season starts and it seems that it has already started.  The Evening Standard has reported that Watford are keen on a move for Mady Camara and the Olympiakos midfielder is interested as well.

That is brilliant news for the Hornets as it means that they have a bonafide replacement for Abdoulaye Doucoure. The 26-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away, as he looks to make the step up. That is not surprising given his talent but it’s also why a move for Mady Camara makes a lot of sense.

The 22-year-old may have only joined Greece giants at the start of this season but since then, his reputation has shot up. Six goals and two assists in all competitions has further added to his value, but it’s Camara’s energy and athleticism in midfield that make him perfect.

It’s a surprise that the Hornets didn’t make a move in the January window. The Guinean was awarded a new deal but a move for Watford would be great.

He would represent another bargain deal for the Hornets and while it could be complicated because of Newcastle’s interest, it’s one race they need to win.

Conclusion

Mady Camara has done very well in the Greek Super League and more importantly, he’s proven that he is more than ready for a move to a better league in the future.

That is something Watford need to make sure happens, especially if they are to have any chance of repeating what has happened this season.
