Predicted Leeds United Lineup To Face Burton Albion

Leeds United will hope to get back on track to qualify for the playoffs when they take on Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium this Saturday in the EFL Championship.

The Whites suffered a 1-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday, that led to them dropping to 7th place in the table, and out of the playoff spots. Garry Monk will be hoping that his team pull themselves together and bounce back, with just 3 more games left to play in the season. Leeds defeated the Brewers 2-0 the last time they met at the Elland Road and fans will be hoping for a similar result this weekend as well.

Team News

Midfielder Ronaldo Vieira missed the game against Wolves due to illness but could be in line for a return this weekend. Defender Liam Cooper will miss out again as he serves his suspension. Monk has nothing else to worry about on the injuries front and should field his strongest XI in what could be a season-defining game.

Here is how Leeds could line up against Burton Albion:

Probable Leeds United XI:

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Garry Monk

Rob Green (GK)

The 37-year old former England international has been one of the best players on the pitch for Leeds this season. An undisputed starter between the sticks.

Luke Ayling (RB)

The marauding right-back was subdued against Wolves on Monday. He will look to put in a strong attacking display this weekend.

Kyle Bartley (CB)

The 25-year old centre-half has been solid as a rock at the back this season for the Whites. He will want to finish the season in a similar way.

Pontus Jansson (CB)

The Swedish international endured one of his poorest displays on Monday. He will be itching to bounce back against the Brewers.

Charlie Taylor (LB)

The 23-year old could be playing his last few games for Leeds with his contract set to expire at the end of the season. He could come in for Gaetano Berardi who had a poor game against Wolves.

Ronaldo Vieira (CM)

The 18-year old is an important presence in the middle of the park for Leeds and was sorely missed on Monday. Expect him to come back in the playing XI, with struggling captain Liam Bridcutt making way.

Kalvin Phillips (CM)

Partnering Vieira in the centre of the pitch will be Kalvin Phillips. The 23-year old too struggled against Wolves, but Monk should stick with him in the midfield.

Kemar Roofe (RW)

Has been one of the few bright sparks in the attack, but has struggled for consistency this season. He should keep his place on the right-flank.

Pablo Hernandez (CAM)

The Spaniard has been found wanting in recent weeks after a series of underwhelming displays. But he has the quality to be the difference maker and should be persisted with.

Alfonso Pedraza Sag (LW)

On the left-flank, expect Alfonso Pedraza to continue to feature. The young Spaniard hasn’t been among the goals but has shown that he can be a threat to the opposition defence with his running.

Chris Wood (ST)

Spearheading the attack will be club and Championship top-scorer Chris Wood. The Kiwi striker has scored just once in his last 5 appearances. He will be hoping to improve on that and add more to his 25-goal tally.
