It was a thrilling end to the Merseyside derby as Liverpool left it late against Everton at Anfield. Divock Origi scored in stoppage time to hand Jurgen Klopp’s men all three points in the Premier League.
The Reds were once again not at their best and were very much at par with Everton, who threatened Liverpool’s backline. Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane had a couple of good opportunities but were unable to find the back of the net.
It took a scuffed volley from Virgil Van Dijk that was misjudged by Jordan Pickford, who kept the ball in play only for Origi to head home. The Everton goalkeeper otherwise put in a strong performance on the night but was unfortunate to let one in in the dying seconds.
Once again bailed the Reds out with a superb save from Andre Gomes’ header. Alisson looked good with the ball at his feet as well.
Put in a confident performance down the left flank and looked good going forward. Dealt with Walcott for the most part.
It was his scuffed shot that eventually led to Origi’s goal. Van Dijk was commanding at the back.
Defended well but Richarlison did trouble him at times. Gomez picked up a yellow in the process of stopping the Brazilian.
A decent performance from the youngster who didn’t really stand out in this game. Whipped in a couple of dangerous deliveries into the box.
A much better performance from the Dutch midfielder who retained the ball on many occasions and pressed well in the middle of the park. But he didn’t offer much going forward once again.
Made a number of vital tackles in the midfield and cut out a lot of important passes. However, he did pick up a yellow after a few shaky tackles.
Played a couple of incisive passes into the box and looked active throughout the first half. Should have done better with his chance.
Linked up well and created a few good chances but for once, he didn’t score at Anfield this season.
Played a couple of wayward passes and gave away the ball unnecessarily. He really needs something to boost his confidence.
Looked dangerous with his running and direct dribbling on the ball. But Mane squandered one or two good chances.
Didn’t make much of an impact apart from playing a few simple passes in the middle of the park.
Had his good and bad moments. Did well to turn away from an Everton defender only to dive moments later.
Match winner and derby day hero on the night. Though his goal was fortunate, he still did well to keep on going.
