Valverde to make 1 huge change – Predicted 4-4-2 Barcelona line-up to face AS Roma

Predicted Barcelona Line-up To Face AS Roma In The Champions League

After surviving a scare against Sevilla in the La Liga during the weekend, Barcelona will turn their attention towards the UEFA Champions League, as they welcome AS Roma to the Camp Nou for the 1st leg of their quarterfinal tie.

Barcelona defeated Chelsea 4-1 in the previous stage of the competition. Coming into the game, the Catalans put up a late fightback to come back from two goals down and secure a 2-2 draw against Sevilla in the La Liga this past weekend. Manager Ernesto Valverde will be hoping to avoid a repeat of such an occurrence when his side faces Eusebio Di Francesco’s men at home.

Probable Barcelona XI

Manager: Ernesto Valverde

Formation: 4-4-2

Marc-Andre ter Stegen (GK)

The German international is enjoying his best season for Barcelona since joining the club from Borussia Monchengladbach back in 2014.

Sergi Roberto (RB)

The versatile La Masia academy graduate has made the right-back slot his own this season, ahead of summer signing Nelson Semedo.

Gerard Pique (CB)

A leader on and off the pitch for Barcelona, Gerard Pique’s presence is of utmost importance for Valverde’s side.

Samuel Umtiti

Samuel Umtiti (CB)

The France international has well and truly established himself as one of Europe’s finest in what has been a solid 2017/18 campaign for him.

Jordi Alba (LB)

The width and the attacking impetus that the former Valencia man provides with his rampaging forward runs from left-back are crucial for Barcelona.

Ousmane Dembele (RW)

The former Borussia Dortmund winger is yet to completely live up to the billing since arriving at the Camp Nou in the summer. However, the signs are extremely positive.

Ivan Rakitic (CM)

An integral part of this Barcelona setup, the 30-year old Ivan Rakitic hasn’t missed a single Champions League game this season.

Paulinho (CM)

The Brazilian international has been a surprise package this season, contributing with 8 goals and 2 assists so far. However, he is yet to score or assist a goal in the Champions League this season.

Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta

Andres Iniesta (LW)

The Spanish pass master might be in the twilight of his career but has turned back the clock with some impressive displays this season.

Lionel Messi (ST)

The little magician might be carrying an injury but he continues to be the difference maker for the Catalans. Messi has contributed 3 goals and an assist in his last two European appearances.

Luis Suarez (ST)

The Uruguayan international has scored 24 goals this season but he is yet to score a single goal in the Champions League this season.
