United Will Use Senior Players Against FC Cluj – Sir Alex Ferguson

Manchester United are having a less than impressive start to the league campaign, with 2 defeats already the United boss is not a happy man. The Scot wants his side to produce a match winning performance in their Champions league clash against FC Cluj.

United lost out in the group stages last year and Ferguson is desperate not to repeat the humiliation he faced when they exited the competition at the group stage.

The Manager said:

“There’s no chance I’ll be going with kids in this one. We will play the experienced players.

“Cluj knocked out Basle over two legs in the qualifier — that shows where they are.

“To win in Braga takes some doing. It’s not an easy place to go. We are taking it seriously.

“They think they can qualify now. They have a home game against United: get something from it and are in a good position with back-to-back games against Galatasaray next.

“Galatasaray against Braga is an interesting one. That’s going to be a big game for their ambitions to reach the knockout stage.”

In other news, Sir Alex Ferguson is set to offer a new contract to defender Rio Ferdinand. Asked whether Ferdinand has a future at United, Ferguson replied:

“Yes. He is 34. Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes are still playing. If he looks after himself – and he is doing that well now, managing the situation with his back – there is no reason why he can’t play on.”
