United to make a late bid for Wanyama

United are planning on a bid for Victor Wanyama before the close of transfer window and see him as a replacement for Darren Fletcher. Reports suggest that the deal may be in place after the Kenyan also showed his admiration for the Manchester club in recent interview.

Sir Alex checked on the 21 year old Kenyan’s performance who scored in a 4-0 Celtic win over Dundee United last week. Wanyama would be the strong defending midfielder all United fans were hoping for and would also is a capable option as a Centre half.

The bid for the midfielder is said to be in the region of £10million though a summer move would make more sense as he would be cup tied and cannot play for United in this years Champions league. The loss of Darren Fletcher for the rest of the season may be the catalyst behind Sir Alex to make this move for Wanyama.

The Kenyan has captained the Celtic side on various occasions this season and has shown the world that he has the required physicality to survive in the English Premier league. Celtic Boss Neil Lennon wants to keep the player though who he had captured from Belgian side Beerschot in 2011 for £900,000 and had earlier told reporters that his player was worth £25 million.

Liverpool and Arsenal have also shown interest in the midfielder who will surely be in the news during the summer if the proposed United transfer does not go through now.

The one positive thing going in the way of United is the desire shown by Wanyama himself to play for the Red Devils. In a recent interview the player was quoted saying that “United is his favorite club and his dream is to play for the Manchester club someday.”

Fergie’s reluctance to sign up any new players during the January transfer may come as a eye wash for other clubs as he has already struck a deal for Wilfried Zaha to join them in the summer. If Wanyama signs up for United it will be a huge capture of a fantastic prospect from Kenya who can add to the already star studded squad assembled by the genius old man of Manchester United.
