Premier League opinion: Under-23 team of the season

It has been another incredible season in the Premier League and the usual stars have produced quality performances that everybody expected of them. However, the young guns have made their mark too, some more than others, and here’s our under-23 team of the season.

Kepa Arrizabalaga

The Spaniard started off the season as a 23-year-old and despite a few hiccups, he has had a solid season for Chelsea. Kepa has kept 12 clean sheets so far in the Premier League this season, third best behind Alisson and Ederson.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

After an impressive debut campaign last term, Alexander-Arnold has continued his incredible performances this season. The 20-year-old has provided 6 assists so far in the league and is making himself a name as one of the best young players in the business.

Davinson Sanchez

The Colombian has struggled with a hamstring problem this season but has been as solid as ever whenever he has featured for Spurs this season. The 22-year-old has made 18 appearances for the North Londoners so far this season and has a huge future ahead of him.

Victor Lindelof

The Swede, like Kepa, started off the season as a 23-year-old and has been Manchester United’s best defender by a country mile. Lindelof has missed just 5 games all season and has been a rock in United’s backline, especially under Solskjaer.

Ben Chilwell

Chilwell has been one of Leicester City’s brightest prospects this season and the Foxes will have to do well to keep him at the club beyond this summer.

Lucas Torreira

The Uruguayan has been a revelation in the Gunners squad this season and since signing from Sampdoria in the summer, the 23-year-old has been one of Unai Emery’s most important players.

Declan Rice

The 20-year-old has had a remarkable season so far in the Premier League and is arguably a favourite for the young player of the year award, thanks to his outstanding performances in the middle of the park.

David Brooks

Bournemouth’s shining star in an otherwise average campaign, Brooks has been phenomenal for the Cherries this campaign and played a massive role in the 4-0 demolition of Chelsea at the Vitality. The 21-year-old has scored 6 goals and has provided 4 assists in 25 games so far this campaign.

James Maddison

The 22-year-old has been an incredible asset for Leicester so far this season and has been directly involved in 12 goals in 28 starts for the Foxes.

Richarlison

The former Watford man has been Everton’s saviour this campaign and has scored an impressive 12 goals so far this season. At just 21 years of age, he has shown real maturity even when played up front, out of position.

Marcus Rashford

With 9 goals and 7 assists in the Premier League so far, the 21-year-old played a massive role during Romelu Lukaku’s slump in form and has kept the Red Devils in the hunt for a top 4 place.

Shamanth Jayaram

24-year old Electrical engineer turned football writer, born and brought up in Bangalore.
