Two Things To Expect From Mourinho And Manchester United In The Summer – Griezmann, Belotti And De Gea To Be Involved

Manchester United

Two Things Manchester United Should Look To Do Ahead Of 2017/18 Season

Jose Mourinho will be frustrated with the way his side is crumbling at the moment. The manager is without a first-choice centre back for his side’s Europa League semi-final against Celta Vigo and is also short of options in more than one position. It is also possible that Jose Mourinho might sell some of the players in his squad and replace them with better ones at the end of the season.

Mourinho has been linked to some of the best players in Europe and he should be ready to break the bank to get them to the club this summer. He should also look to solve the problem of squad depth, to try and help them compete at the highest level next season. But what does Mourinho have to do to compete for the title next season? Here are two things that the manager will look to accomplish in the upcoming transfer window:

Buy more than one attacker

Wayne Rooney has featured so little this season and surely, he would be evaluating his options come end of the season. Top goalscorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic picked up an injury that will put him out of the game until January and he has not yet signed a contract extension with the club. This leaves Mourinho with very few options in attack at the moment. Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial are the only two players who can lead the attack for the side while Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Juan Mata, and Jesse Lingard will remain the only options to play in behind the striker.

So it is clear that Mourinho has to add more than one player to his attack. United might miss out on Romelu Lukaku but still have their eyes on Italian star Andrea Belotti, Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann and Real Madrid duo James Rodriguez and Alvaro Morata to solve this problem.

Hunt For De Gea’s Replacement If The Spaniard Leaves

To add to the above problems, Manchester United are also in danger of losing first-choice shot-stopper David de Gea this summer. The most consistent player for the club in the last couple of seasons, De Gea is right up there with the best in his position in Europe and Zinedine Zidane wants him at the Bernabeu next season. The French manager seems ready to finally get the deal done, and United will find it hard to keep him at the club if the reports are true.

This will push Mourinho into the transfer market and it is understood that the manager is looking at Sunderland’s Jordan Pickford, Leicester City’s Kasper Schmeichel, Barcelona’s Marc-Andre Ter Stegen and AC Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma to replace the Spaniard at the club this summer.
