Two Players Who Sean Dyche Could Sign If He Takes Over At Crystal Palace – Including This Liverpool Attacker

Two Players Who Sean Dyche Could Sign If He Takes Over As Crystal Palace Boss

It has been close to a month since Sam Allardyce resigned from the post of the Crystal Palace manager, after having led them to safety in the Premier League in the 2016/17 campaign. However, the Eagles are yet to appoint a new manager with chairman Steve Parish still searching for the right candidate to take the team forward next season.

A lot of names have been thrown into the hat, with Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic having been established as the early favourite to succeed Big Sam at the Selhurst Park. However, it is Burnley manager Sean Dyche who is reportedly in the driver’s seat to become the next Palace head coach. The Englishman led the Clarets to promotion to the Premier League twice and also won the EFL Championship in the 2015/16 season.

Dyche led Burnley to a 16th placed finish in the league last season, when most of them expected the team to drop back to the Championship. If he takes over the hot seat at the Selhurst Park for next campaign, here are two players that he is likely to sign in the summer:

Danny Ings

The 24-year old has had to endure a torrid time at Liverpool since his move to Anfield two years back, as two long-term injuries have seen him struggle to get into the thick of things for his new club. Following the arrival of Dominic Solanke from Chelsea and another big name striker expected to be signed by Jurgen Klopp, it is unlikely that Ings has a future at Liverpool.

Dyche is very well aware of the potential and the talent that the Englishman possesses, having played a key role in his development at Burnley and will be keen on working with him once again if a chance presents itself. Ings himself would be better served with a change of surroundings as he looks to resurrect his career. A reunion with his former manager would bode well for him.

Marc Roberts

Palace are thinly equipped in the centre-back positions with captain Scott Dann and James Tomkins the only two options in the squad at the moment. A new central defender will be on top of the list of Dyche if he takes up the job.

Barnsley defender Marc Roberts is someone that Dyche has been monitoring for a while now and if he takes over at Palace, may well move for the player in the summer. The 26-year old was a key member for the Tykes last season and was handed the captain’s armband following Conor Hourihane’s January exit. Roberts finished the season with 40 Championship appearances, scoring 4 times in the process. But with just a year left on his existing deal with the club, a summer exit cannot be ruled out at this stage.
