Two Players Who Could Follow Virgil van Dijk To Liverpool

After months of struggle and social embarrassment, Anfield outfit Liverpool finally got their hands on Southampton’s prized possession Virgil van Dijk, earlier this week. The Dutch international took to social media to announce his St. Mary’s exit and his £75m price tag makes him the most expensive defender in the history of football.

He is also the most expensive Liverpool transfer ever and will have a lot of responsibilities on his shoulder. But Klopp does not seem to be done with his transfer activity for January. He is sure to dive into the transfer market again, to add to his side, and here are two such players, who could follow Van Dijk to Anfield, before the deadline day in January:

Leon Goretzka (FC Schalke)

Another name that is exciting many a Liverpool fan is the up and coming German midfield maestro Leon Goretzka. At just 22, he has already cemented a place in the German national team and has made a name for himself as one of the finest young midfielders in the game at the moment. He is out of a contract at the end of the season and has already spoken about wanting to play in England.

Reports claim that Liverpool are front-runners for his signature and Schalke might be forced to sell him in January, to avoid losing him for free in the summer. With Jordan Henderson injured up to February, Liverpool are slightly weak in the midfield and it is the right time for Klopp to lure Goretzka to Anfield.

Javier Pastore (PSG)

Another midfielder Liverpool should look to sign is PSG outcast Javier Pastore. The 28-year old Argentine is one of the most impressive dribblers in the midfield role and is right up there with the best in Europe. At his age, he is an experienced player, who is in his prime and will completely change the complexion of this Liverpool midfield.

Reports claim that he is open to a Premier League move and he has already been linked with a move to Liverpool, thanks to the lack of game time in Paris. He has recently revealed that he is not looking to quit the French club anytime soon but with just 8 league starts to his name this season, he would surely be in search of regular game time, which would be available at Anfield.

Just like Goretzka, Pastore would also be a welcome addition to the club.
