Tottenham Hotspur are having another brilliant season in the Premier League this year. After falling short of the title in an agonising manner last time around, Mauricio Pochettino’s side have managed to muster up another title challenge and find themselves in the second spot, 7 points behind leaders Chelsea.

With five weeks of action still left, the title hopes are faintly alive, but they look all set to finish in the 2nd place, ahead of North London rivals Arsenal, thus indicating a shift of power.

However, their European campaign is something that will have left a bitter taste among the fans. Tottenham crashed out of the UEFA Champions League as early as the group stages and were sent packing from the UEFA Europa League in the Round-Of-32.

Pochettino will be extremely keen on improving their European performances over the upcoming seasons and if they are to do that, they will need to invest smartly in the transfer market in the summer. Tottenham don’t need a lot of players coming in, but they need to reinforce some key areas, while also get rid of a few players who have been disappointing in this campaign. Players To Be Sold

Moussa Sissoko

The signing of Moussa Sissoko by Tottenham on the deadline day of the summer window would probably go down as one of the worst transfers of the season.

The Frenchman arrived in London from Newcastle United for a fee of £30million but has failed miserably to shine for the Lilywhites. Sissoko has featured 29 times for Spurs this season, across all competitions but has failed to score a single goal. He has registered 4 assists though, but hasn’t settled into the team and adapt to the way Tottenham play under Pochettino. His performances have been so poor and ineffective that it seems highly unlikely that he will have a future with Tottenham post this season. It would be better for Tottenham to cash in on him.

Kevin Wimmer

The Austrian centre-back has hardly been used by Pochettino this season and when he has been called upon, has looked more of a liability.

Wimmer impressed in his handful of appearances last season and as a result earned a new contract with the club. However, things haven’t gone according to plan this time around. The 24-year old has been limited to just 10 appearances across all competitions, only 5 of which have been in the Premier League, in which he has put on some erroneous displays. With Tottenham becoming genuine title contenders, they will want more quality in the ranks and as a result, could decide to ship out Wimmer.

Players To Sign

Kevin Gameiro

Goals beyond Harry Kane has been an issue for Tottenham this season. While Dele Alli, Heung-Min Son have stepped up in recent weeks, the second striker Vincent Janssen, has been struggling for goals.

So, it is imperative that Tottenham look to sign another striker in the summer transfer window and the man who could help them reduce their dependency on Kane could be Atletico Madrid’s Kevin Gameiro. The 29-year old has scored 14 times and has set up 7 goals this season for the Los Rojiblancos and has become a pivotal member in Diego Simeone’s team. The Frenchman has been linked with a move to Tottenham in the past and if they are to strengthen their credentials as European challengers, they will need someone of his quality in their ranks.

Wilfried Zaha

This one has been spoken about for quite a lot time now, but we could finally see Wilfried Zaha joining Tottenham this summer.

Spurs have been chasing the Crystal Palace wide man for some time and saw an approach in the last summer get rejected by the Eagles. However, with Sissoko failing brutally, they need a player who can operate in the wide areas and add a direct threat with pace and runs from the flanks. Zaha has the ability to do that and he has had an impressive season for Palace, having netted 6 strikes and set up 11. He has the pace and the skills on the ball to cause some serious issues to the opposition defence and his signing will definitely add a different dimension to the Spurs attack.
