Forget Signings – Here Are Two Players Who Could Leave Newcastle United At The End Of The Season

These Two Players Could Leave Newcastle United In The Summer

It has been confirmed that midfielder Haris Vuckic has left Newcastle United and has moved onto Dutch Eredivisie Side FC Twente on a week’s trial as he looks to get a contract with the club.

The Slovenian is out of contract in the summer and expected to move on having failed to establish himself with the Magpies. There were high hopes pinned on the 24-year old when he arrived back in 2009 from Domzale, but Vuckic, despite impressing in the youth teams, has struggled to make it to the first-team. Following five loan spells in his 8 years at Tyneside, it looks like his Magpies career could be coming to an end, after making only 7 appearances for the club.

Newcastle United sit on top of the EFL Championship and look set for a return to the Premier League. However, there is a second exit being reported after winger Florian Thauvin recently announced that he will be moving permanently to French side Marseille, where he is currently on loan at.

Amid these exit reports doing the rounds, we pick out two more players who could head out of the St. James’ Park at the end of the season:

Chancel Mbemba

The defender who was one of the most consistent performers for Newcastle in the Premier League last season when they got relegated, has found himself on the fringes this season under Rafael Benitez.

The 22-year old has been restricted to just 8 appearances this season with the central defensive partnership of Jamaal Lascelles and Ciaran Clark working well for the Magpies. The young Grant Hanley has also moved ahead of Mbemba in the pecking order.

It has been surprising to see the DR Congo international’s career take the path that it has, considering the fact that he had looked right at home in the Premier League last time around. But with Benitez not looking to afford him any game time, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the player leave in the summer and there will be no shortage of suitors given his potential.

Yoan Gouffran

The 30-year old left-winger has failed to live up to the billing in his four and a half years in Tyneside and this season could very well be his last in the black and white of Newcastle.

The Frenchman has featured 39 times this season across all competitions for the Magpies this season, and has managed to score 7 goals and has 5 assists to his name as well. However, he has seen his involvement reduce in recent weeks.

His contract set to expire at the end of the season and no reports of any negotiations between the player and the club have emerged. There is still a bit of time left to the end of the season, but there are serious doubts over his future at the club.
