Could Turn Out To Be A Success! Why Chelsea Should Sign This Premier League Winning Attacker (Not Mahrez)

The major rebuilding plan being set up at Chelsea seems to be gaining steam under new manager Antonio Conte. Even though the Italian is managing Italy in Euro 2016, he will take over the role of manager at the London club next season and one of his first moves could be to sign a star in the making from Leicester City, Demarai Gray.

The 19-year-old winger was signed by the Premier League champions in January in 2016 and made 12 Premier League appearances for the Foxes, though he made just one start for the club in their winning run.

It was a surprise move by Claudio Ranieri to sign Gray and the Italian manager had already stated that he would not want the youngster to move away at any cost but a big bid from the London club could change the minds of the management at Leicester and this would be a great signing for the future.

Why Gray could be great at Chelsea next season

Demarai Gray would want to play at a club which gives the maximum number of chances to start in the league. Leicester City might not have the youngest team out there but he surely won’t get a lot of chances next season as Ranieri might not want to break a winning team with a winning mentality.

Antonio Conte would want to bring in fresh blood for an aging team and that might be just one reason to bring in the talented star. Chelsea have Eden Hazard and Willian out on the wings but no one else who can actually step up. Pedro has had a poor season and Conte might be willing to try one of the trio as the central attacking midfielder next season.

This would mean that the Blues don’t have a good, young option to put on the bench. The 19-year-old is someone who can run well and his finishing is probably one of his best strengths as well. Gray also has incredible pace and that would be a great to have on the bench for the club from London.

He is known to be someone who likes to run at defenders and can be seen as someone in the same mould as Eden Hazard. However, his goal scoring record last season wasn’t all that great. The English winger only had one goal and two assist to his name last season for all the games he played for Birmingham City and Leicester City.

That is a poor return but it only serves to show that he has to work hard at those aspects of his game. The tough decision for him would be to accept the move to Chelsea as he would be overawed by the size of the club but under Ranieri, he could grow into one of the best players in the Premier League. There is a lot of talent and potential in the 19-year-old and moving to Chelsea could help him get better under another Italian manager.

Chelsea also need a fresh infusion of youth in the side and it should start with Demarai Gray moving to the Stamford Bridge club.
