Transfer Window Coming To An End: What to expect from Arsenal this season?

Though Arsenal hasn’t had the best start to the league this season, there is no doubt that Wenger will be desperate to end an 11 year wait for the Premier League trophy this season. Arsene Wenger has himself gone out and said that the squad, he has right now is the best he has had since the invincible. Taking a huge debt to finance a move to a new stadium did in some ways effect the club hugely on the playing field.

As the weight of the debt lifted, Arsenal did show signs of improvement gradually. The nine-year trophy drought finally ended with back-to-back FA Cup wins and we are seeing a much more aggressive approach in the transfer market again, they are not losing their stars player and have added significant star power over the past two seasons. There is enough evidence to suggest that finally the time has come for Arsenal to mount a serious title challenge this season.

What to expect from Arsenal this season?

Arsenal’s biggest strength is their midfield, perhaps one of the best in the league right now. The combination of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, and Santi Cazorla is enough to give defenders sleepless nights. Apart from Alexis Sanchez, this could prove to be a make or break season for Mesut Ozil, the former Real Madrid player has struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League, but on the evidence of his recent performances, we might finally get to see the players who were once tipped to be the best number 10 in the world.

It’s very difficult to find a weakness in this Arsenal team, but concerns remain over the solidity of the back line, in many key situations the defensive organization of the team has just crumbled away. One thing which will heavily impact Arsenal’s title credentials is a number of injuries they have in the next 8 months. Wenger will need to keep his star players fit to have any chance at winning silverware this season.

Arsenal will need to be consistent this season, which will require them to grind out results even on days when the team isn’t playing well. Chelsea last season lost only three matches and those came spaced apart while Arsenal lost seven matches and drew nine matches.

Though Arsenal hasn’t been that active in this transfer window, but they can still boast the signing of the summer so far after the capture of Petr Cech from Chelsea. Arsenal didn’t have a world class keeper for a long time, but the arrival of coach will definitely provide a huge boost for the defense.

Wenger has two years left on his contract and there is a chance that he might step down after the end of this season. If that’s the case then Wenger would love to leave the club he built with one finally goodbye present.
