Thursday Transfer Round-up:
Ba To Arsenal:
Reports from London claim that Arsenal are in advanced talks with Newcastle United for the signature of Demba Ba. This is not the first time Newcastle United are forced to sell their top striker. But they may not get big profit as they got with Andy Carroll since Demba Ba has a release clause of around 7.5 million pounds in his present contract.
And Newcastle manager Alan Pardew today has admitted that he cannot stop the striker from leaving the club because of the clause he has in his contract.
The manager said: “It’s unfortunate that the contract he has leaves open a lot of questions because we have this clause and every window that comes around, I have to answer the same questions.
“It would be disappointing for him to leave in this window for this club and for his team-mates here, but the decision will be his, ultimately, because that clause is there.
“The most important things we have got with Demba is he is someone who is a goalscorer and he is scoring goals, and that’s very, very important to a side. His commitment to and work-rate for the team, I don’t fault.”
Ba has also commented on the situation in his interview with Canal+ and the Senagalese looks all set to sign for the Londoners. And with Huntelaar trying to extend his contract with Schalke, the transfer of Ba to Arsenal looks more than a possibility.
Liverpool And Tottenham Chase Real Winger Jose Callejon:
Real Madrid winger Jose Callejon is on the radar of two English clubs in a hope to sign the player in January. The Daily Express says the 25-year-old is now thought to favor a move away from the Bernabeu to further his career.
Liverpool and Spurs are both in the market for the striker, with the former being the more desperate as they look to take some of the burden off Luis Suarez, who has been their main source of goals this season.
Manchester United are stepping up interest in Molde defender Vegard Forren:
United legend Solskjaer has advised Ferguson to go for the 24-year-old Molde defender. The Manchester Evening News says Forren has shown up on United’s radar as the 24-year-old’s form alerts the Premier League. But the Reds have been monitoring Forren before Norway’s winter break and there is almost certain to have been communication between Fergie and his former striker.
“We haven’t received any offer for Vegard. But there are many who have enquired about Vegard. I am expecting that we might receive an offer in January,” said Solskjaer to the Manchester Evening News.
“Yes, he could play for Manchester United but I don’t have to tell him that. At his best, he is a very good footballer.”
Forren along with Fulham’s Hangeland has been a sensational combination for Norway national team and the defender has made sensational progress with his club Molde.
