Daniel Opare
Rangers News: Rangers have set their eyes on Ghanaian full-back Daniel Opare, according to The Scottish Sun.
The 28-year-old Antwerp right-back is cited as a replacement for James Tavernier should he opt to move away from Ibrox this summer.
The 27-year-old English right-back played a pivotal role for the Light Blues in the recently concluded season, bagging 17 goals and 14 assists in all competitions.
Furthermore, he was the Scottish Premiership’s top assists provider, a reminder that he plays as a right-back.
The Ghanaian right-back made 23 appearances this season for Royal Antwerp, but his stats are underwhelming compared to that of Tavernier.
On the downside, Opare had his spells with various clubs over the course of his career that include Porto and Real Madrid B but he has failed to make a name for himself.
Furthermore, Opare is more a defensive-minded player and it remains to be known whether he could fill Tavernier’s void should he moves to Glasgow.
The Light Blues manager, Steven Gerrard, is aiming to halt their arch-rivals Celtic’s dominance next season with the help of the signings he made.
His biggest assessment up next would be the Europa league campaign, where the Gers will compete in the first qualifying round.
