Transfer News: Rangers eye a move for Swiss defender Timm Klose

Rangers News: Rangers are plotting a transfer move for Norwich City defender Timm Klose, reports The Scotsman.

The 30-year-old’s contract is due to expire later this season.

Player stats

The Swiss defender began his career with FC Basel, mostly playing in the U-21 side.

He later had his spells in Germany with FC Nurnberg and Wolfsburg before joining the Canaries in 2016.

He has made more than 100 appearances for Yellows, captaining his side on the 100th game.

Klose has won the Premier League Player of the month award once and represented his national side 31 times.

The Swish centre-back is currently having a great season so far, playing more than 30 games and has scored four goals.

Why Rangers should move for Klose?

Joe Worrall, the on-loan Gers defender, is expected to return to his parent club Nottingham Forrest at the end of this season.

And the options left are Goldson and Nikola Katic, whose lack of experience might be a concern for Steven Gerrard.

Having said that, Klose would be a perfect choice for Gerrard to strengthen his defence for the next season. And the Swiss defender’s versatility would be an added advantage.

Difficulties

Given that the Canaries will play in the Premier League next season, they would like to hold on to Klose, one of their players, by offering him a huge price.

This might rule out a move for any approaching clubs.

The Gers have now picked up three straight wins after the 2-0 win against Aberdeen on Saturday.

Gerrard would like to end his first season at Ibrox on a high note.

They will be playing Hibernian in matchday 3 of the Scottish Premiership’s second phase.
