Transfer News: Ligue 1 side Marseille plotting a £16m move for Alfredo Morelos

Rangers News: According to reports from The Sun, Ligue 1 side Marseille are plotting a massive £16m move for Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos.

The Colombian striker has been phenomenal for the Light Blues this season with a 29-goal tally.

Marseille currently have Mario Balotelli. The Italian striker snubbed his deal with his ex-club OGC Nice and joined  Marseille in January.

Morelos-irreplaceable at Ibrox?

The Colombian is infamous for his on-field antics, as he received a total of 5 red cards this season alone.

During his absence, Steven Gerrard found it hard to find the right replacement and even admitted that Morelos’ significance is vital to the side.

Jermain Defoe turned out to be the former’s second choice striker and has fared well in his current loan spell with the Light Blues.

With the limited starts, the Bournemouth-bound striker was still able to score 8 goals in 15 games.

Yet, Defoe can’t commit to the club’s long future, given his age and the contract clause with the Cherries.

Morelos is rated around £20m, same as that of ex-Hoops’ striker Moussa Dembele’s value.
