Transfer News: Leeds United closing in to sign Barcelona youngster

Leeds United News: According to a report from Marca, (h/t Team Talk), Leeds United are edging closer to signing Barcelona forward Rafa Mujica.

The Spanish forward’s contract is due to expire this season.

Player stats

Mujica, 22, has been an integral part of Barca’s reserves over the past two seasons.

Being a versatile forward, Mujica has bagged 10 goals over 50 matches.

He was a part of the side that won the UEFA Youth League in 2017 and has earned two caps for Spain’s U-19 team.

How would Mujica fit in Leeds?

Despite knowing the fact that he could be pushed to the reserves at first, Mujica could soon become a breakout star, which would depend on his progress at Elland Road.

And the Spanish prospect would be the Whites’ second signing from the Blaugrana since Kun Temenuzhkov in 2017.

Temeuzhkov is currently making waves with the reserves as he was pivotal in Leeds’ U-23 side reaching the semi-finals in the Professional Development national League.

With players like Jack Clarke, Shackleton broke into the first-team this season but Kun and Muijica could soon be the next.

Leeds will play Derby County in the Championship Playoff second leg semi-final this week with an aggregate lead of 1-0.
