The Bosnian international will cost Alaves around £4million.

Simunovic’s Injury-laden season

The centre-back endured another injury-laden season as he only made 18 appearances. He returned to the fold in the final phase of the Premiership.

The former Dinamo Zagreb player signed for the Hoops in 2015 and has made 72 appearances till now.

The 24-year-old‘s move to Torino in 2016 couldn’t see the light of the day as both clubs failed to negotiate.

Having represented Croatia at youth levels, Simunovic later opted to play for Bosnia, owing to the lack of chances.

Will Simunovic’s move affect the Hoops?

The Hoops are gradually losing their defending options after the exit of Dedryck Boyata on Sunday.

Kristoffer Ajer remains the only centre-back alongside Simunovic and there are no proper back-ups left for Neil Lennon.

And the Bosnian’s exit at this stage will be a big blow for the Scottish giants until they find a promising signing in the transfer window.

Lennon, the Hoops interim manager led his side to the Scottish Premiership title this season for the eighth time in a row.
