Transfer News: Celtic plotting a transfer move for Azerbaijan defender Bahlul Mustafazada

Celtic FC News: Celtic are plotting a move for Azerbaijan defender Bahlul Mustafazada reports The Sun.

Player Stats

Mustafazada, 22, currently plays as a centre-back for his country based club FC Qabala.

He has made 23 appearances this season, which includes the Europa League qualifier against Rangers.

The defender has earned ten caps for his nation’s U-21 side.

A youth product of his present club, Mustafazada also had loan spells at local club Sumgayit.

His contract is due, later this season.

Lennon looks to reinforce his defence

The Hoops interim manager, Neil Lennon, is currently running out of defenders, with the imminent departure of Dedryk Boyata and the exit of Filip Benkovic to his parent club Leicester City.

The only reliable options left are first choice centre-backs Kristoffer Ajer and Jozo Simunovic.

The Celts can acquire the services of Mustafazada, who could provide cover for them.

The Bhoys are yet to face a defeat since the turn of the year and are nearing towards their eighth straight Premier League title.

Under Lennon, the Scottish club has won six of their last eight games, without facing a single defeat.

The former Hibernian manager led his side to notable wins against Rangers in the Old Firm Derby and against Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup semi-final.

They will face Hearts in the Cup final and a win would possibly earn them a domestic treble.
