Transfer News: Celtic interested in Veteran Premier league defender

Jagielka will no more be an Everton player next season

Celtic FC News: Celtic are interested in Everton’s veteran defender Phil Jagielka, according to The Scottish Sun.

The 36-year-old  is set to leave the Goodison Park after 12 long years, playing 386 matches.

The English international’s notable achievements include an FA Cup silver-medal with the Toffees and garnering numerous player of the season awards.

A youth product of Sheffield United, Jagielka made around 300 appearances with the Blades before moving to the Goodison Park.

He has also earned 48 caps for the Three Lions and his final appearance was in 2016.

Jagielka has only made 7 appearances in the recently concluded season, evidently becoming an outcast.

Should Celts move for Jagielka?

The Hoops don’t seem to have too many options at the heart of the defence, barring Simunovic and Kristoffer Ajer.

Dedryck Boyata, the Celts’ prominent centre-back over the years, also bid adieu to the Celtic Park and Neil Lennon is currently devoid of proper back-ups.

Jagielka can be a good makeshift option considering his massive amount of experience.  Likewise, the Toffees centre-back has also a great chance to reinstate his career in Scotland.

The Bhoys achieved their historic treble for the third consecutive time and Lennon is set to continue as the full-time manager for the upcoming season.
