The 27-year-old  is tied up with the Glasgow club until 2022.

The English full-back has now become a household name for the Gers, owing to his consistent displays.

Tavernier has garnered a goal tally of 27 this season and he is the Scottish Premiership’s top assist provider.

A youth product of Leeds United, Tavernier struggled throughout his career, as he often got to loaned to various clubs.

Somehow, he straightened things out when he moved to Glasgow from Bristol City in 2015. Over the course, the Gers captain has been a regular for the side playing 195 matches.

Why should Villa make a move for Tavernier?

Dean Smith’s options for the right-back position for next season don’t look great with the speculated exit of Hutton this season. Elmohamdy is already 31 and his contract is due up next year.

Smith should go all out for Tavernier in order to reinforce the side.

The former Magpies player can also contribute a lot to the side’s attack, acting as a wing-back.

Furthermore, Villa are maximizing their chances to get a place in the Premier League next season. A player like Tavernier would always bring a different dimension to the team.

The Lions are set to play West Brom in the semi-final of Championship playoffs this week.

Smith’s men will look to continue their 11-match undefeated streak against the Baggies.
