Arsenal are looking for a striker this transfer window. It does not mean that Oliver Giroud is a bad striker, it just means that the player is not someone who will score 25+ goals and hand the title to the Gunners.
In all fairness Giroud could be a very good supporting striker or a false 9 as he has shown with his assists. However, according to a report from Gazzetta, the player is set to be offered as a make weight in order to bring in Mauro Icardi.
The Italian media reported that Arsenal are looking to offer Giroud plus £30 million for Icardi. While Mauro Icardi is a good player and the youngest captain of Inter Milan, the deal just does not seem right. Losing Giroud may not be the solution as the Gunners will require depth in the squad in order to challenge for major trophies. If at all Wenger is looking to make this deal it will probably go down in history as one of the most weird deals.
