Transfer Latest – Arsenal To Land A 27-Year Old Free Agent

Ciprian Marica is all set to sign for the Gunners next season. Ciprian Marica’s agent has confirmed that the player is close to a move to the Emirates. The 27-year-old Romanian International’s contract with Schalke has expired, and he is available on a Bosman free.

So, another free transfer amidst a plethora of rumours linking with big name players? According to sources (Express, Metro and Daily Mail), it is reported that Arsenal along with few other European clubs like Inter Milan, Lazio and Shaktar Donetsk are also after the striker.

Talking about the issue Marica’s agent Giovani Becali told Romanian daily Ring:

“He is close to Arsenal. We’ll see this week. Marica is a very good striker, a Romanian international and very experienced in western European football. It is normal that he is targeted by big clubs, all the more so after he has completed his contract with Schalke.”

Marica joined the Bundesliga club in 2011 after getting a transfer from Vfb Stuttgart. But he had appeared only 52 times for Schalke, scoring a meager 9 times. But his availability as a Bosman transfer has made him lucrative in the transfer window.

Arsenal are looking to add striking reinforcements this summer having seen Gervinho leave and MarouaneChamakh and NicklasBendtner heavily linked with moves away. May be the free transfer will be a start to a few more additions? We will have to wait and see.

While Arsene Wenger is looking to reinforce the attacking force, Gunners’ target Jesus Gamez has been linked with the Wales team Cardiff. Late last month Arsenal were in talks with Gamez to land him at the Emirates and were thought to have offered £1.5m plus NicklasBendtner for the 28-year-old. But the wage discrepancy of Bendtner didn’t turn out well and the deal was called off.

Reports in Spain suggest that Cardiff lodged an £3.5m offer for Gamez which was rebuffed by Malaga.According to AS, Cardiff are again preparing a bid of £4m. But this proposal is likely to be rejected as the Spanish side demands a bid of around £5m.
