Transfer Latest – Arsenal And Tottenham In The Race For The ‘Next Cristiano Ronaldo’

The latest buzz in lanes and by-lanes of North London is that the two North London clubs are in a battle to secure the deal of ‘Next Cristiano Ronaldo’. And this is none other than Alvaro Vadillo, the latest Spanish sensation.

The Independent quotes that, Vadillo has been identified as a long-term replacement for Gareth Bale by the Spurs but the Gunners hope to beat their cross town rivals to his signing.

Only 18 years of age, but the left winger has already set the football world spellbound by his skills. A product of Real Betis academy, this teenager currently plays for Betis and holds the record of being the youngest player to play in La Liga at 16 years, 11 months and 16 days. His ball control ability, tricking the opponent players and dribbling ability on the left wing have honoured him the comparison with a legend of the game. Much for that, his decision-making quality on the field is considered to be much more matured than Ronaldo when he was of that age.

In such a scenario, it’s no wonder Wenger would go for this phenomenal winger. So far, this transfer season has been a nightmare for the Frenchman as he saw helplessly his targets land at other clubs. Whereas, Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas has already broken Spurs transfer record but still he is on a lookout to build a dream team who can bring the Premier League to White Hart Lane.

In such a scenario, it will be interesting how this deal takes a turn. Though many teams were in the race earlier, but now it is clearly between the two teams of North London.

In other news, former Dutchman and Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp has something to cheer about. If reports are to be believed, he will be honoured with a statue in front of the Emirates Stadium. He will be the fourth player after Thierry Henry, Tony Adams and Herbert Chapman to be felicitated with a statue.

Bergkamp joined the Gunners from Inter Milan in 1995 at a transfer fee of £7.5m. Since then, he has appeared 423 times for the Gunners scoring 120 goals.
