Tottenham Opinion: Should Spurs make a move for Amadou Diawara?
If there is one thing that Tottenham need, it’s another midfielder. While Mauricio Pochettino has transformed Moussa Sissoko from an inconsistent winger to a decent midfielder, his abilities aren’t enough.
But letting Mousa Dembele go without a replacement is the worst move that Mauricio Pochettino has ever made. Moreover, their lack of spending over the last two windows has affected the club and will continue to affect the club in the long run.
They should sign players in the summer window, and a midfielder has to be their top target. Amadou Diawara would be a terrific option given the Guinean’s current situation with Serie A side Napoli.

A defensive colossus, the youngster is very strong on the ball but what should attract Tottenham is his ability to move the play forward. Much like Mousa Dembele, Diawara excels at creating chances as a holding midfielder, using his strength and athleticism to great effect.
Add that to his rather incredible passing statistics, with the youngster averaging 90% (Whoscored) since his move to Napoli and it simply increases his value but for Tottenham, it’s a move they need to make.
While there may be doubts about his ability to adjust to the Premier League, Amadou Diawara’s mentality should help him do just that.
Mauricio Pochettino’s ability with youngsters is a proven fact which will help. The former Southampton manager has helped Harry Winks, Dele Alli and numerous others and Diawara could become a world-beater under his tutelage.
But that’s only if a move does take place and while there are no other suitors at the moment, that could change.
