Tottenham vs Watford prediction: Tottenham line-up

Tottenham return to Premier League action after the international break and are in need of a win.

Spurs have lost their previous two games by painful margins and the performances haven’t been great at all. Mauricio Pochettino’s men face a struggling Watford team and in normal circumstances, they should be favourites for the three points.

However, this is an inconsistent Tottenham team and they have been plagued with injuries. Hugo Lloris is out till 2020 with a dislocated elbow while Ryan Sessegnon and Giovani Lo Celso are still recovering from their problems.

Pochettino has a tough job on his hands to turn things around and Tottenham need their players to stand up.

Predicted Tottenham XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Paulo Gazzaniga (GK)

Spurs re-signed Michel Vorm during the international break but Gazzaniga should start in goal after getting a few minutes against Brighton.

Juan Foyth (RB)

Foyth played in both of Argentina’s games during the break and could start at right-back on Saturday. The youngster picked up an injury during pre-season but hands Spurs with a boost.

Toby Alderweireld (CB)

It is difficult to suggest who could feature in central defence after Spurs conceded seven to Bayern and three to Brighton. However, they should stick with the tried and tested Alderweireld in the heart of the defence.

Jan Vertonghen (CB)

Vertonghen has had a poor season and was responsible for some of the goals against Bayern. The Belgian has looked off the pace but should start ahead of Davinson Sanchez.

Danny Rose (LB)

Pochettino has a tough choice to make regarding his left-back but could stick with Rose in place of Ben Davies.

Tanguy Ndombele (CM)

The one Tottenham player who has been a positive this season, Ndombele should start for Spurs against Watford and could be the key to dominating the midfield.

Harry Winks (CM)

Winks should just beat Moussa Sissoko to the other slot in the midfield and Spurs could have a lot of possession against the Hornets.

Erik Lamela (RAM)

The Argentine started the season brightly but things have fizzled out. Lamela should still get the nod on the right wing, and needs to put in a shift after the Brighton game.

Christian Eriksen (CAM)

Eriksen has been inconsistent for Spurs and needs to step up. Tottenham need a quality performance from the Dane and he should start against Watford.

Son Heung-min (LAM)

Son was busy during the international break but the South Korean should start for Spurs against the Hornets.
