Tottenham vs Manchester City predictions: 3 key battles
After a horrific run of form over the last month, Tottenham got back to winning ways in their new stadium against Crystal Palace. However, Mauricio Pochettino’s side now face a massive battle in the Champions League against Manchester City.
The Cityzens are on a roll in recent games and have the prospect of achieving the quadruple this campaign. Spurs will be hoping that home support will push them over the line but given Manchester City’s fearsome form, it won’t be easy.
Here are three key battles which would potentially determine the result on Tuesday:
Kieran Trippier vs Raheem Sterling
Sterling has had a phenomenal campaign, having scored 19 goals and provided 16 assists in all competitions. The Englishman has 5 goals and 3 assists against Spurs in 11 appearances and he will be hoping to have a massive impact again on Tuesday.
Trippier has had a horrific couple of months for Spurs and has struggled a lot against pacy opposition wingers. The Englishman looked lost at times against Sadio Mane last weekend but he will have to be at his best this time around against Raheem Sterling.
Christian Eriksen vs Fernandinho
Tottenham will again be heavily reliant on the creativity of Christian Eriksen. The Dane has carried Mauricio Pochettino’s side at times this season and his service to the likes of Kane and Son up front could potentially sway the game their way.
Eriksen’s biggest threat on Tuesday would be Fernandinho. If Pep Guardiola decides to have the Dane man marked by the Brazilian, Eriksen’s impact on the game will be highly reduced, which could massively hurt Spurs’ chances of getting anything from the game.

Son Heung-min vs Kyle Walker
The South Korean should be high on confidence after being the first to score a new goal at the new stadium. Son has won 3 out of his 4 games against Manchester City and Spurs fans will be hoping his good run continues. Son will also have to do his bit defensively to help out Danny Rose on the left flank.
Former Tottenham star Kyle Walker will have the tough task of facing Son on Tuesday but he has been in fine form so far. The Englishman’s positioning will be hugely important on Tuesday and his forward runs will prove to be a headache for the hosts.
