Tottenham vs Liverpool: Preview, Team News and Likely Playing XI

Finally, the day Liverpool fans are waiting for has arrived. The Reds’ new manager Jurgen Klopp is all set to lead the side in his first match as the manager after replacing Brendan Rodgers a week ago. The Reds travel to London to face Tottenham Hotspur at the White Hart Lane. Both the teams have had a mixed season so far and the managers would hope to perform well and snatch the three points from the opposition tonight.

Form:

The hosts sit one point ahead of Liverpool in the table going into the clash, and they will be full of confidence after they won three of their last four league games including the 4-1 win over title favourites Manchester City apart from victories against Sunderland and Crystal Palace. Pochhetino will hope his English striker Harry Kane fires against Liverpool and find some much-needed form.

On the other hand, Liverpool are coming into the game with only one win to show from their last six league clashes and had their manager Brendan Rodgers sacked after the 1-1 draw against Everton at Goodison Park. Jurgen Klopp will be looking to spark an immediate turnaround in fortunes at the White Hart Lane on Saturday. Liverpool defence, that has been their weakness this season has a lot to do to stop Christian Eriksen and Co. later this evening.

Team News:

Tottenham has a long list of absentees ahead of the clash as they will be without midfielder Eric Dier, who serves a one-match ban, while Nabil Bentaleb, Ryan Mason and new signing Son Heung-Min are all ruled out through injury.

Liverpool also have their own injury concerns as skipper Jordon Henderson is yet to return from his injury while left-back Joe Gomez and striker Danny Ings are ruled out of the season after sustaining injuries last week. The Reds will also be without Roberto Firmino and Christian Benteke and this makes the job tougher for Klopp in his first game.
