Tottenham signing this outstanding German talent would make their attack world-class

Why Julian Brandt would be a statement signing for Tottenham Hotspur

After a bright start to the new Premier League season, Tottenham Hotspur must show their big ambitions by splashing the cash in the January transfer window and signing some top quality players will definitely go a long way in making a statement of intent.

Strengthening the midfield has to be Mauricio Pochettino’s priority, given the fact that Mousa Dembele is out of contract at the end of this season and Victor Wanyama and Eric Dier are currently out injured. But Pochettino simply cannot ignore bolstering his attacking options midway through the season.

There is no doubting that Spurs have one of the best attacking units in the Premier League. In Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli, Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura, the north Londoners can beat any team on their day. However, Pochettino’s men haven’t been as free-flowing going forward this campaign as they have been in the past.

So, it’s important for Spurs to invest heavily on a top attacking talent in the winter transfer window. And Bayer Leverkusen star Julian Brandt would be the perfect signing for Pochettino’s team.

Julian Brandt, 22, is considered as one of the jewels of German football but his career seems to have stagnated a bit at Bayer Leverkusen. The winger has scored just once and provided three assists in 15 league games this season as Leverkusen lie 11th in the table.

If the German wishes to take his game to the next level, he clearly needs to quit Leverkusen as quickly as possible. That said, a move to Spurs would give him the perfect platform to develop under the astute Mauricio Pochettino.

In return, Spurs would get a highly talented player who fits their profile. Brandt can play anywhere along the front-line, he is incredibly quick and highly composed on the ball. The 22-year-old has the ability to run at defenders and beat them with his nimble footwork and dribbling skills. The German international is excellent at keeping the ball in tight areas and though he gets dispossessed a lot of times, there is always a hunger shown by him to win the ball back as quickly as possible.

A classy operator of the ball, Brandt has an impressive passing range, both short and long, and his vision coupled with the ability to finish off chances should see him hit the ground running at Tottenham. He would not only add quality to Pochettino’s attacking unit but also increase their squad depth. Furthermore, his experience of playing in European competitions should make him such a valuable asset for Spurs.

Hence, Spurs must show ambition by signing Brandt in the New Year as they attempt to challenge the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool for the Premier League title.
