Tottenham signing this Barcelona speedster would make them a European force next season – opinion

Tottenham opinion: Should Spurs make a move for Malcom?

Tottenham cannot continue moving on without adding a few new players to their squad next season. Somehow, they’ve managed to make the Champions League final, beating the likes of Manchester City and Ajax along the way.

A large part of that has been down to manager Mauricio Pochettino’s tactics and the will power in the team. That win against Ajax showed just what the team could do without the talismanic Harry Kane, with the Englishman’s absence not hurting the club.

So far, both Heung-Min Son and Lucas Moura have picked up the mantle in the absence, with Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli chipping in. Yet, that isn’t to say that the club does not need reinforcements.

Vincent Janssen has been an utter flop since his move and while Fernando Llorente has done well chipping in with goals, he is out of contract. It means that the club needs reinforcements next summer and Football.London has reported exactly as much.

The English news outlet has reported that Tottenham are keen on a move for both Andre Gomes and Malcom. It adds that Gomes is close to a move with a few details remaining but Tottenham need Malcom to reinforce their team.

A brilliant prospect, the 22-year old’s worst move till date has been to Barcelona. Not a fan favourite or even a manager favourite, the Brazilian has struggled since his big-money move to the Camp Nou.

The Brazilian was an absolute sensation during his time in Ligue 1 and constantly proved to be the difference-maker.

That is what his performances at Bordeaux showed.  A 22-year old that not only knows where the goal is but also how to find it. His final season in Ligue 1, Malcom produced 20 goals in 35 appearances and finished his career at Bordeaux, having created and scored 39 goals in 96 appearances.

That’s an incredible sum for any forward, as it averages to a goal every 2.5 games. Which is a stunning turnout for any player in the world, but for a 22-year-old, it’s exceptional. It shows just what he can add to Tottenham and as his current manager clearly doesn’t want him (Daily Mail).

Conclusion

Malcom has shown the potential to become a great player for any club he joins in the future, and for Tottenham, that is something they need to take advantage of. That combined with his pace, power and directness in front of goal will help add another dimension to the club and would make them a European force.
