Tottenham signing this 25-year-old Kosovo star would ease Kane’s goalscoring burden

Why Vedat Muriqi could be a fantastic signing for Tottenham

Back in September, Turkish outlet Sabah (h/t The Metro) had claimed that Tottenham were keeping tabs on Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi.

The Kosovo international, 25, who only joined Fenerbahce a few months ago during the summer transfer window, has gotten off to a good start. In fact, he has scored seven goals in 11 league games.

And it’s no surprise to see him attract interest from West Ham, Napoli, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid and Valencia as well (h/t The Metro). With Vedat Muriqi impressing for Fenerbahce so far this season, Tottenham must make a move for him in January.

With the first half of the season nearing its end, Tottenham find themselves 14th in the table. Spurs have won just three from their opening 12 Premier League games, leaving them in danger of missing out on a top-four finish this season. Truly, things have not gone smoothly for the north London side.

Recently, the club even sacked Mauricio Pochettino after a five-year spell and quickly appointed Jose Mourinho as a replacement. As a result, one can expect some big changes at White Hart Lane in the days to come.

Regardless, Tottenham have not tasted victory in their last five league matches and their next match is against London rivals West Ham. Even though star striker Harry Kane leads the top-scorers’ chart with six goals, it has not been the best of starts for the England international.

With attacking players like Heung-min Son, Lucas Moura and Dele Alli struggling to produce the goods this season, Mourinho must rope in a new striker to cover and compete with Kane.

Not to forget, Kane has struggled with injuries over the last few seasons, meaning the Portuguese manager must manage him properly. By signing a striker, Kane would get some breathing space to keep himself fit. In that regard, Vedat Muriqi would be a brilliant option for Tottenham.

Standing at 6ft 4in, Muriqi is a powerhouse of a striker. The Kosovo international has a jackhammer of a left-foot, which he uses to test goalkeepers from distance.

In the video below, one could see the 25-year-old’s ability to score different kinds of goals.

Verdict

Muriqi is a proven match-winner, someone who Tottenham can depend on when they’re in need of a goal or two. Thus, the Kosovan would be the ideal player to ease the goalscoring burden off Kane’s shoulders.
