Tottenham signing this 24-year-old goal machine from La Liga to aid Harry Kane would be a brilliant move

Why Angel Correa would be a brilliant addition to Pochettino’s Tottenham

According to a report from the Daily Star, Tottenham could join the race to sign Atletico Madrid forward Angel Correa.

Earlier in the summer, Tottenham had been offered the chance to sign the 24-year-old as part of negotiations over the deal for Kieran Trippier. While Trippier ended up at Atletico Madrid, Spurs were apparently not interested in the Argentina international.

However, as per the latest developments, Angel Correa’s proposed move to AC Milan has stalled due to complications in the deal. With the Argentinean’s move to Milan in doubt, Spurs could step in and snap up the forward from Atletico, the report add.

Spurs have signed only two players this summer—Tanguy Ndombele and Jack Clarke—with the latter having returned to Leeds United for the 2019/20 campaign. Mauricio Pochettino is still in the market for another attacker as he plans to add competition to star striker Harry Kane.

Kane has suffered injury problems over the last couple of seasons and it is important he needs sufficient breaks during an ongoing campaign.

That will only happen if Pochettino signs a new forward and with the likes of Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente both departing too, more attacking options are definitely needed ahead of the new campaign.

With that in mind, signing Angel Correa would be a step in the right direction. He scored five goals for Atletico Madrid last season and isn’t exactly prolific as far as his record in the La Liga is concerned, but the Argentinean could do a great job as a backup to Kane.

Correa can play across the front three and he would be a very good addition to Pochettino’s attack. He will add pace and flair to the Tottenham side and improve the fluidity of their play in the final third.

The Argentina international boasts blistering pace, which allows him to make some darting runs behind the opposition backline. His unpredictable movement in and around the box makes him a very tricky player to mark for the defenders.

The acquisition of a quality forward like Correa would undoubtedly bolster Pochettino’s attacking options significantly at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

It will be a tantalising prospect for everyone associated with Spurs to witness the Atletico star linking up with the likes of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Christian Eriksen and Lucas Moura.

Verdict

Correa could prove to be an inspired addition for Spurs, which might give them the much-needed boost to challenge the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City for the Premier League title next season.
