Tottenham signing this 24-year-old Argentine hotshot would be a masterstroke by Pochettino in the summer

Tottenham opinion: Should Spurs make a move for Rodrigo De Paul?

One of Tottenham’s biggest issues this season has been their lack of depth, especially with the club trying to challenge on multiple fronts. That ended their title challenge after the January transfer window and since then, things have gotten worse.

Furthermore, while they are in the semi-finals of the Champions League, injuries could once again hurt their chances.

According to the Mirror (h/t Calciomercato), Spurs have now been linked with a move for Udinese star Rodrigo De Paul. The winger is currently plying his trade in the Serie A and is doing relatively well.

So far this season, he’s managed to produce 13 goals in all competitions, which makes him the club’s best player.

The 24-year-old made his name at Racing Santander in Argentina before moving to the La Liga, where he struggled. It was the move to Udinese that proved to be the better one and De Paul has since found his footing.

A crucial star for the Serie A side, the Argentine is a versatile player and has been used more centrally by his former managers. But at Udinese, he has mainly played as a left-winger and has flourished, producing 13 goals in 34 appearances in the Serie A alone.

A very creative winger, Rodrigo de Paul uses his pace and skill on the ball to terrorise opponents, and his creativity to bring teammates into the game. That combined with his defensive work rate, and tenacity makes him a great move for Tottenham and it’s a move they need to make.

They need reinforcements in multiple positions and given their dependence on both Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane this season, things need to change. That being said, adding someone like Rodrigo De Paul won’t help them flourish if he is the only one who arrives.

The Argentine can do a lot of things well but carrying a team single-handedly is not his speciality, which is why Tottenham need to add help.

A few more players in the right areas and manager Mauricio Pochettino could have the team he needs to challenge on multiple fronts next season.

Conclusion

Tottenham have been linked in the past with a move for Rodrigo De Paul (Express) but nothing ever materialised and the 24-year-old remained in Italy. That needs to change next summer as it could be just the move that the North Londoners need to push them forward.
