Tottenham signing this fiery Dutch prospect would add a different dimension to their attack next season

Tottenham opinion: Should Spurs make a move for Steven Bergwijn?

Tottenham’s season despite them reaching the Champions League final has been far from perfect. The North London side have shown an alarming inconsistency in the Premier League, which affected their title hopes. Things got so bad that they finished fourth in the Premier League.

It’s why they need reinforcements before the season ends and if anything, it has to be the right players. That’s because the club hasn’t spent any money for a year and a half, thus they should not rush into any deal.

The last player to walk on to the team sheet was Lucas Moura and he arrived in the winter of 2018.

Since then no new additions have walked in but players have left the club for other opportunities. Mousa Dembele was the biggest loss for the North Londoners, with the Belgian leaving in January of 2019.

That effectively changed the season for the club and it saw them struggle to replace him. Former Newcastle United man Moussa Sissoko did relatively well but he cannot be a long term option. That should be the club’s top agenda along with a new winger.

They’ve lacked players in said position, with Lucas Moura and Son Heung-Min the only two reliable options. Barring that, Tottenham have nobody and that needs to change. There are quite a few options around the world but one man who should be at the top of their shortlist is Steven Bergwijn.

The Daily Mail has reported that Tottenham are very keen on a move for the young starlet and given the season he had that’s not surprising. Bergwijn finished with 15 goals and 13 assists in all competitions, which is downright stunning.

Only Christian Eriksen created more goals and only Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane scored more. It also shows just why Tottenham need someone like Steven Bergwijn in their team if they want to challenge for the title.

Arguably the best player they can buy, the 21-year-old will only improve from here on out and he could be a perfect signing. A typical Mauricio Pochettino move, if there ever was one, Tottenham need the Dutch international.

Eric Lamela has been less than impressive, so have Dele Alli and Georges-Kevin N’Koudou. More likely than not, Tottenham have to sell at least two out of the three men and replacing them with someone as talented as Steven Bergwijn makes a lot of sense.
