Tottenham Hotspur are undoubtedly one of the sides to watch out for in the upcoming season after making history by reaching the finals of the Champions League the last term.
They have also enjoyed a productive transfer window, having acquired the likes of Tanguy Ndombele and Jack Clarke.
On the downside, Mauricio Pochettino has had to deal with Christian Eriksen’s potential exit (h/t Sky Sports) and a worrying winger conundrum.
The absence of traditional wingers – barring Son Heung-min – last season made Pochettino capricious while sorting out a preferred formation, often forcing the Danish playmaker to occupy the flanks.
With that being said, there is no other better time than now to reinvigorate their interest in Federico Chiesa, Fiorentina’s budding star.
The Italian prospect was linked with a big-money move to Spurs months before and now, fellow Serie A club Juventus have turned out to be his potential suitors.
Aged just 21, Chiesa has already garnered widespread attention with his back-to-back successful seasons with Fiorentina, bagging a fair share of 18 goals in all competitions. Not to mention, he has received 13 caps for the Italian senior team thus far.
The Italian winger’s staggering assists tally (18 in the last two seasons) is more appealing than anything else, alongside his ability to play at various positions on the pitch.
As far as last season’s stats are concerned, Chiesa was a cut above his peers like Paulo Dybala and Bernardeschi with an average of 1.5 key passes and 2.1 dribbles.
If you look into his cons, Chiesa held a pass succession percentage of 71 only but he can get away with that because of the lack of team effort.
He follows a Messi-esque style of play, meaning he loves to receive the ball on the flanks and then make cut-ins with blistering pace, thanks to his diminutive build. Chiesa also doesn’t shy away from playing as a No.10 or even as a wide midfielder.

Given that, the Italian prospect is one who could provide a cutting edge to Pochettino’s side.
Spurs should keep their productive transfer window alive by making a move for Chiesa, keeping in mind their need for attacking reinforcements. The Fiorentina man would breathe a new life into Pochettino’s side.
