Tottenham re-signing £85m world-class superstar would instantly turn them into title contenders

Why Tottenham Hotspur should definitely bring back Gareth Bale

According to the Express, Real Madrid are ready to offload Gareth Bale in in order to fund a move for a new striker this season. The Blancos have been in poor form this season and that saw new manager Julen Lopetegui get sacked a few weeks into the season. The report suggests that Madrid are also prepared to offload Karim Benzema so that they can raise the funds to engineer a move elsewhere.

Tottenham Hotspur have made their best start to a Premier League season under Mauricio Pochettino this time but are yet to really cement themselves as title contenders. Spurs did not make a single transfer in the summer and it has taken a toll on the club.

That is why they should bring in their former star in January. Gareth Bale made his name as a household footballer during his time with the Lilywhites. He started out as a left-back, before moving further up the field, showing devastating capabilities.

Bale was a force to reckon with in his final season with Tottenham that saw the Welshman score 21 goals and provide 4 assists in 33 appearances. That was the season which earned Bale the big £85m move to the Santiago Bernabeu. (Stats courtesy – Premier League)

Tottenham have found it hard to score goals freely this season. England captain Harry Kane has also looked slightly off the pace, which means Spurs now have to find those goals elsewhere.

Bale is capable of playing anywhere across the frontline. Though often deployed on the right wing, he is capable of playing on the left as well. The 29-year-old is also comfortable playing as a lone forward so he can seamlessly offer cover for Harry Kane.

But Pochettino can bring the best out of him by deploying him on the right-hand side of his 4-2-3-1 formation. Though Lucas Moura started the season well, he still doesn’t look like a proper Premier League player.

Bale possesses the pace, power and the energy to terrorise defenders down the right flank. The Welshman also loves to cut into the box and have a go at goal. His ability to stretch defenders and make clever runs behind them should give Christian Eriksen more chances to create opportunities.

Tottenham will certainly improve their goal-scoring record if they bring back the famed Welshman. Pochettino may have to pay a handsome fee but it is one that will immediately turn Tottenham into title contenders this season.
