Tottenham Player Ratings from 1-1 Draw Against West Brom: Alli and Alderweireld Star

North London outfit Tottenham travelled to the Hawthorns to face West Bromwich Albion on Saturday afternoon, as they continued to fight for a spot in the top four. Spurs were unbeaten in 13 consecutive Premier League games this season since the opening day loss to Manchester United and a win or a draw would equal their club-record of a 14-game unbeaten streak. The away side began the game on the positive note, as Alli gave them the lead on the 15th minute of the match. However, the Baggies got one back towards the end of the first half, when McClean managed to equalize in the 39th minute. The first half ended with the score at 1-1. Both sides had more chances in the second period, yet there were no more goals added till the end. Manager Mauricio Pochettino would have been disappointed that his side could not secure all three points and close in on the clubs above them in the points table.

Player Ratings:

Hugo Lloris: 7/10

Could not do much to prevent the goal from going in, yet denied Jonas Olsson in the second half from close range to keep his side in the tie.

Toby Alderweireld: 7/10

Set up a good move for Alli to finish off for the opening goal of the game and looked quite solid at the back for his side defensively as well.

Danny Rose: 7/10

Stopped Chris Brunt from running in on goal in the second half with a wonderful challenge, though was not really composed in possession.

Jan Vertonghen: 6/10

Gave Salomon Rondon a lot of space in the game at the start, yet won some good aerial battles and challenges as the game went on.

Eric Dier: 6/10

Did not have a great night and let Darren Fletcher run behind him and deliver the cross for West Brom’s equalizing goal.

Kyle Walker: 7/10

Kept McClean quiet for most of the game, yet failed to deal with his threat and he let him head in the ball, into the back of the net.

Érik Lamela: 5/10

Did not really impress in the game, though he did run quite a bit in the match.

Dele Alli: 7/10

Scored the opening goal of the game with a superb finish. Not allowed too much space to run freely and put in a superb ball for Kane as well though it was cleared off the line.

Christian Eriksen: 6/10

Could not do much in the game, which was the reason for an evening which lacked too much creative play by the visitors.

Mousa Dembélé: 5/10

Not really into the game, as much as he would have liked. Well, the fact that it was an average performance from the away side should also be considered, as there seemed to be some kind of impetus missing.

Harry Kane: 5/10

Did not get too many real chances in the game to create much though the superb ball from Alli which he got his chance from was eventually cleared off the line.

Substitutes:

Clinton N’Jie: 5/10

The offside flag was the only thing that prevented him from making the headlines on tomorrow’s papers.

Son Heung-min: 5/10

Lacked confidence to really do much in the match after coming on as a sub.
