Tottenham or Liverpool? Which Is The Best Destination For Demarai Gray?

Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are both in the Champions League next season and both teams are looking to improve some particular positions in their squad to start the new season as a stronger outfit. So it does not come as a surprise that they are fighting for the signature of one up and coming player in the Premier League.

According to reports from the Guardian, Liverpool have joined Tottenham Hotspur and Everton in the race to sign Leicester City star Demarai Gray this summer. Everton seem to have pulled out from the race after recent signings but both Spurs and Liverpool are desperate for his signature.

At just 21, Gray has already represented the English national side in every junior level and is waiting for his senior team call-up. However, he made just 9 starts in the Premier League last season, picking up just one goal and 3 assists in this time, not helping him establish a place in the national side.

So it might be time for him to move on and he is in luck as two of the most exciting teams in the country are fighting for him. A deadly finisher with decent dribbling skills, Gray is a hard-working attacker who loves to run the lines and create havoc in the final third.

He is not a great holder of the ball nor is he strong in the air. But his technique and understanding of the game make him a hard man to mark. He can also play with decent effect on the wing and this versatility will attract both the English clubs.

Liverpool have a plethora of talent in their attack with the likes of Roberto Firmino, Daniel Sturridge, Danny Ings and Divock Origi all fighting for the number 9 role in the squad. With all the above mentioned attackers capable of playing on the wing as well, it would be difficult for Gray to break into the first team. Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane will hog the wings, leaving Gray with little chance of first team action at Anfield.

However, Mauricio Pochettino will be licking his lips at this deal as Gray will solve more than one persistent problem in the squad.

The case is similar at Tottenham too, as Son Heung-min and Erik Lamela are there. However, Lamela has failed to make a name for himself and this should give Gray enough chance to impress Pochettino and get into the first team. Tottenham also do not have a backup for Harry Kane in the first team, with Vincent Janssen far from impressive and the Leicester City man can try to make at least one position out of these two as his own.

He is not expected to cost too much and is an efficient addition. It would be better if Gray chose Tottenham over Liverpool this summer.
