Tottenham Or Arsenal – Which Would Be The Ideal Destination For This £21m International Attacker

Thomas Lemar

Tottenham Or Arsenal – Who Should Thomas Lemar Join This Summer?

The French Champions AS Monaco have a tough task in their hands as they are struggling to keep their star players at the club, amid interest from some of the finest clubs from all over Europe. The latest talent from Monaco that is creating waves in England is Thomas Lemar.

The French star is yet to make a senior appearance for his country but was in terrific form last season, helping his side to the League title and also a place in the Champions League semi-final, where they eventually lost to Juventus.

According to reports, Lemar is stalling on a new contract as he is ready to listen to offers from Arsenal. But Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal are not the only club in the city that are looking for his services this summer. The same reports claim that Mauricio Pochettino is also looking at the French sensation as a possible addition to his squad. So which is a better destination for Lemar?

With 14 goals and 17 assists across all competitions for Monaco, the £21million rated winger had a stellar campaign in France and stands as one of the most exciting players currently up for show in Europe. Known for his strength, dribbling abilities and vision in passing, Lemar is also a set-piece specialist and is a player who will probably walk into the first team at both clubs.

The Gunners are set to lose Alexis Sanchez this summer and need a star player to replace him. Thomas Lemar wouldn’t be a bad option after all. At just 21, he is still learning the game but showed great temperament and confidence at the highest level last season. He would seamlessly slot into the left winger’s slot and without Champions League football at the Emirates, he can take enough to time to establish himself as a first team star for Arsenal.

However, Spurs are also looking at a first team star who can help them take the next step, and might need established stars to turn things around. The French U-20 international may get his chance to impress Pochettino but if he cannot find consistency, he will not be used regularly and could slowly fade away.

At the Emirates, he will be under a French mentor, who loves to work with youngsters and surely, he will get his chances, irrespective of his previous performances. That confidence shown in him by the manager is all that he might need to turn into a superstar.

So Lemar would be better off joining Arsenal than Tottenham, purely because of ‘the Arsene Wenger factor’.
