Tottenham Hotspur vs Bournemouth prediction: Tottenham line-up

Jose Mourinho’s first home game in charge saw Spurs make a comeback against Olympiakos in the Champions League after trailing 2-0 inside the first 20 minutes. They eventually went on to win the game 4-2.

With back to back victories, the Lilywhites seem to be confident and they would look to overcome every obstacle post-Pochettino era.

Tottenham host Bournemouth on Saturday and a win over the Cherries would take them above the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United at least temporarily.

On the other hand, Bournemouth have just won just 1 out of their last 7 league games. They would be eager to trample Tottenham’s hopes of reaching the top-four.

This encounter would be crucial for both sides. While Spurs would be looking to develop the good form they regained lately, Bournemouth would be hoping to avoid an unwanted streak.

Team News

Tanguy Ndombele and Jan Vertonghen’s return to the squad in the mid-week has been positive for Mourinho as he would have several options to choose from.

Hugo Lloris’ season might have come to an end with his shoulder injury. While Erik Lamela is doubtful for the game due to thigh injury, Ben Davies’ return to the squad is unknown, after being substituted against the Hammers due to an ankle injury.

Michel Vorm was supposed to cover up for Lloris but he has his own troubles in the calf and would not be available at the weekend.

Probable Tottenham XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Paulo Gazzaniga (GK)

In the absence of both Lloris and Vorm, the Argentine has done quite well. And due to limited options, he would start for sure and would be looking to keep a clean sheet.

Serge Aurier (RB)

Aurier seems to have benefited from Mourinho’s game plan. With 1 goal and 2 assists in his last 2 games, the Ivorian would be a sure pick against Bournemouth. He has improved a lot in making forward runs.

Davinson Sanchez (CB)

Sanchez is yet to rediscover his best form this season. An injury to Vertonghen has given him an opportunity to prove his worth. Despite the Belgian’s return, Sanchez is likely to continue at the back.

Toby Alderweireld (CB)

The 30-year-old’s experience will be key for Tottenham as he would be looking to maintain a strict defensive line, partnering Sanchez. He should be an undoubted starter.

Dany Rose (LB)

With an injury to Ben Davies, Rose is expected to start as he did against Olympiakos. He would be looking to make significant contributions to the team’s attack.

Harry Winks (CM)

Winks was significant in their win against the Hammers last week. He might have a key role under Mourinho and would start without a fight for his place.

Tanguy Ndombele (CM)

The Frenchman is likely to get the nod ahead of Eric Dier, who was substituted before the half-hour mark against Olympiakos. Ndombele is yet to make a name for himself after the club signed him.

Lucas Moura (RW)

Moura has started in both the matches after Mourinho took charge. He is expected to start in this position given Lamela’s doubtful situation.

Dele Alli (AM)

Alli seems to have regained his magical touch in the last two games. He looks to be a better player now under the new manager. He is sure to start.

Son Heung-Min (LW)

The South Korean did not make much of an impact against Olympiacos, except for the assist for Aurier’s goal. He would be looking to add flair to the team’s attack when they take on Bournemouth.

Harry Kane (ST)

Kane would be leading the team and will look to add a few more goals to his name. He is a sure starter.
