Son To Lead The Line – Strongest Tottenham Line-Up To Take On Southampton

Predicted Tottenham Line-up To Face Southampton

Tottenham Hotspur’s victory over Millwall in the FA Cup saw them establish a crunch derby in the semi-final of the competition against Chelsea. But they now turn their attention to try and catch their local rivals in the league table. Spurs are currently 2nd in the table, 10 points off Chelsea who are at the top and Tottenham will have to be at their best from now to the end of the season to have any shot of getting close to them. They are fresh from a victory over Everton but face a tough test this weekend when they welcome a Southampton side that beat Watford in the previous round. Claude Puel’s side have proven that they are hard to beat this season but Pochettino’s side cannot afford to drop any more points as teams behind them in the points table are ready to steal their place. Hence, the manager is expected to go all out for this game.

Team News:

Tottenham will be without the services of star striker Harry Kane who picked up another injury recently. Eric Lamela and Danny Rose are still out injured while Mousa Dembele, who missed the FA Cup tie against Millwall is expected to be back in action.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

GK – Hugo Lloris

The French shot-stopper is among the best in the business and Pochettino should stick with him for this tie as well.

RB – Kyle Walker

The English fullback is the most productive defender in the league this season and Spurs might need his expertise to break a stern Southampton defence.

CB – Toby Alderweireld

The senior defender in the side, Alderweireld has done pretty well this season in organising his back line and he will have to do a similar job if the Spurs are to take anything from this game.

CB – Jan Vertonghen

Ably partnering Alderweireld at the back is Vertonghen who has also been in superb form this season. He should keep his place in the backline for his side.

LB – Ben Davies

Deputising for the injured Rose, Davies should start this game at left back for Spurs in this game against Southampton.

CDM – Victor Wanyama

The most effective midfielder for Spurs this season, Wanyama has done extremely well sitting in front of the back and he will have to play a similar role in this tie.

CM – Eric Dier

With Dembele yet to prove his fitness, Dier should partner Wanyama in the middle of the park for Spurs in this game.

CM – Harry Winks

After an astonishing performance against Millwall in the FA Cup, Pochettino should use the youngster in the first team for the league game against the Saints.

RW – Christian Eriksen

The Danish winger has not been consistent enough this season but Tottenham will need him to be at his best to take something away from this game.

LW – Dele Alli

The English attacker has been in excellent form this season and will have more responsibilities in the absence of Kane this weekend.

ST – Heung-Min Son

After a hat-trick against Millwall, Son will be full of confidence and will hope to put in a similar effort against Southampton at the White Hart Lane.

This is how they would line up:
