Dream Tottenham Starting Line-up To Play Next Season Featuring Portuguese And English Midfield Duo

A Dream Tottenham XI Featuring Summer Targets

Tottenham Hotspur have continued to make the headlines this season with their performances. After coming so close to the title last time around, they eventually finished 3rd due to a blip at the end of the season. However, it looks like the Lilywhites will do one better this season as they sit firmly in 2nd spot in the league standings.

Mauricio Pochettino and his young squad have been performing excellently but for them to keep on improving in the upcoming season as well, investment on strengthening their roster over the summer will be of great importance. Their transfers over the past summer haven’t been a great success. Moussa Sissoko has been a major disappointment and Spurs will need to rectify those mistakes in the upcoming window.

They have been linked with a horde of big names and if they manage to sign those targets in the summer, here is how they could line up next season:

Defence

Hugo Lloris is an undisputed choice in the goal and it will stay that way for a long time to come, given that he signed a contract extension not so long ago.

At right-back, Tottenham have one of the best in the business in Kyle Walker at that position and it will continue that way. In the heart of the defence, it will be the Belgian defensive duo of Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen. The two centre-halves have been excellent for Spurs over the past two years and will remain the first-choice pairing. And completing the back four will be the excellent Danny Rose. The Englishman was arguably the best left-back this season in the league until his injury and despite interests from several quarters over a summer move, he will stay at the White Hart Lane and start at left-back.

Midfield

In the middle of the park, it will be the partnership of Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele. Wanyama has become an integral part of Tottenham after arriving last summer and has added steel and solidity to the midfield. Alongside him, Dembele has prospered brilliantly. The Belgian brings calm and control to the centre of the pitch alongside Wanyama’s tenacity, making for an excellent partnership.

Attack

On the right-flank we could see the exciting Bernardo Silva come into the setup. The Portuguese has been sensational at Monaco and Tottenham would look great having him in the lineup. If they manage to get him, he should feature on the right-side, rotating with Christian Eriksen, given the amount of fixtures Tottenham will be involved in.

Through the middle, it will be the exciting and exuberant Dele Alli. The 20-year old has been arguably the best English player in the league this season and contributes heavily with goals and assists. This kid is going places without a doubt.

And on the left-flank will be Everton attacker Ross Barkley. The 23-year old finds himself in a soup with the Toffees over his contract situation. The player will enter the last year of his current deal next season and has refused to sign an extension, meaning he could very well be leaving in the summer and Tottenham are one of the front runners to sign him up. He will play on the left with Heung-Min Son appearing in patches over the course of the season.

Leading the line, without a doubt, will be Harry Kane. The 23-year old has established himself as one of the best strikers in the game and while Tottenham could do with signing another striker over the summer, Kane will be their main man on the field.

Here’s how they may line up:
